HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.hNovember 7, 2011 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES FOR THE 2011 LAKEVILLE MANUFACTURERS APPRECIATION RECEPTION Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution accepting donations from various sources for the 2011 Manufacturers Appreciation Reception. Overview Donations of $500 were received from Dakota Electric Association, Frontier Communications, Minnesota Energy Resources, and Xcel Energy for the City's Manufacturers Appreciation Reception that was held on October 27 at the Lakeville Holiday Inn and Suites. This year's event was attended by over 70 people representing over 30 local businesses and companies and organizations that serve businesses. Without these contributions, this year's event would not have been possible. Primary Issues to Consider • None Supporting Information • Resolution accepting donations id L. Olson Community and Economic Development Director Item No. Financial Impact: Budgeted: Y/N Y Source: Donations Related Documents (CIP, ERP, etc.): Notes: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES FOR THE 2011 LAKEVILLE MANUFACTURERS APPRECIATION RECEPTION WHEREAS, Dakota Electric Association, Frontier Communications, Minnesota Energy Resources, and Xcel Energy each made donations of $500 to the City of Lakeville; and WHEREAS, the donations were used to host the 2011 City of Lakeville Manufacturers Appreciation Reception held during Minnesota Manufacturers Week; and WHEREAS, the individuals and businesses have offered to transfer full rights of ownership of the donations to the City of Lakeville with no conditions or reservations; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property be accepted only with the adoption of a resolution of the governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota that the donations by these businesses are hereby accepted; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lakeville sincerely thanks these businesses for their generous donations.
