APPOINTMENT TO THE BLACK DOG
WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Appointment of Scott Thureen as
Commissioner and Tom Goodwin as Alternate Commissioner on the Black Dog
Watershed Management Organization ( BDWMO) Board of Commissioners.
Passage of this motion will fill the vacancy on the BDWMO Board of Commissioners
representing the cities of Lakeville and Savage from 11/1/11 to 11/1/14.
Overview
The BDWMO actively manages surface water, such as that found in lakes, streams and
wetlands, located in the Black Dog and Credit River watersheds within Dakota County.
The BDWMO is represented by commissioners who are appointed by the cities within
the watershed, which include Burnsville, Lakeville, Apple Valley, Eagan and Savage.
The Board of Commissioners meet regularly on the third Wednesday of the month.
Scott Thureen has expressed a willingness to serve another three year term,
representing the cities of Lakeville and Savage. Tom Goodwin has agreed to serve as
alternate commissioner for a three year term.
Primary Issues to Consider
The City of Savage also intends to approve the appointment of Scott Thureen and Tom
Goodwin at its November 21 City Council meeting.
