Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: accept the donation of a forensic
computer from Target Corporation Forensic Services.
Overview
The Lakeville Police Department received a forensic computer from the Target
Corporation Forensic Services that they had decommissioned due to its capabilities. It
will be used by the Lakeville Police Department to examine floppy and zip drives,
perform preview examinations, image limited data, and can be networked to the main
forensic computer to use its processing power to conduct a coordinated attack on
passwords.
The donation of the computer reduced the initial startup cost of the Forensic Computer
Lab by providing a second backup machine at no cost.
Primary Issues to Consider
• None.
