HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.kMay 7, 2012 Item No. RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP FEES Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution establishing Senior Center membership fees. Overview On February 22, 2012 the Lakeville City Council approved plans and specifications for the proposed Heritage Center. As part of this major renovation project, City staff completed a review of all current fees and charges, and determined that an increase in membership fees is necessary. A membership fee survey was conducted several months ago to determine what members would feel comfortable with, based on the quality of services offered at the Senior Center. City staff is recommending the following senior dues structure: Membership fee Resident single member Resident couple Non - resident Current Proposed $9 $18 $15 $34 $15 $30 The Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Committee recommended approval of the resolution at their May 2, 2012 meeting. RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP FEES WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville has a need to establish Senior Center membership fees; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the following policy of the City as set forth below shall be adopted: To be eligible to participate in Senior Center programs, seniors must be a current member of the Lakeville Senior Center. Men and women, age 50 and older, are eligible for membership. Membership runs from May 1 - April 30. Annual membership fees are: $18 /single, $34 /dual for Lakeville residents, and $30 per person for non - residents. Seniors purchasing a membership after January 1 and prior to May 1, fee is prorated. A Senior Center liability release must be signed for each activity before participation. Membership includes the Senior Newsletter, and access to many FREE programs. Membership fee Resident single member: $18 Resident couple $34 Non - resident $30 DATED this 7 day of May, 2012.
