"Night to Unite"
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, along with AAA of
Minnesota/Iowa, local law enforcement and fire departments, including the Lakeville
Police Department and the Lakeville Fire Department are sponsoring a statewide program
called Night to Unite on August 7, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Night to Unite is designed to get to know one another in your
neighborhood, build involvement by bringing police, fire and communities together; and
to bring awareness to crime prevention and local law enforcement efforts; and
WHEREAS, Night to Unite supports the idea that crime prevention is an inexpensive,
effective tool in strengthening police and community partnerships; and
WHEREAS, Night to Unite provides opportunities to celebrate the ongoing work of law
enforcement and neighborhoods in Lakeville by working together to fight crime and
victimization and increase public safety for all citizens; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Lakeville play an important role in assisting the Lakeville
Police Department through joint crime, drug and violence prevention efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby call upon all citizens of
Lakeville to join the Lakeville Police Department, Lakeville Fire Department and the
Minnesota Crime Prevention Association in supporting and to participate in Minnesota's
annual Night to Unite on August 7, 2012.
FURTHER, LET IT BE RESOLVED THAT WE, THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby
proclaim Tuesday, August 7, 2012, as "Night to Unite" in Lakeville.
