RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR
CHARITABLE GAMBLING
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution granting
approval to the Lakeville Lions to obtain an Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit from
the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.
Passage of this motion will allow the Lakeville Lions to conduct an off -site gambling event
(raffle) on October 8, 2012.
Overview
The Lakeville Lions has applied to the State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board to conduct
off -site gambling at the Lakeville VFW on October 8, 2012. The application requires approval
by City Council resolution.
Minnesota law allows four off -site events each calendar year. This is the first off -site event
being conducted by the Lions in 2012.

• Does this organization meet the qualifications for an Off -site Lawful Gambling
Premises Permit?
• The Lakeville Lions is a qualified organization and currently conducts lawful
gambling at the Chart House, Carbone's and Goodfellas.

RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING
WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville received an application from the Lakeville Lions for an
Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit at the Lakeville VFW, 8790 Upper 208` Street W.;
and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Law allows four off -site events each calendar year; and
WHEREAS, the application requires approval by City Council resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lakeville
grants approval to the Lakeville Lions to obtain an Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit
from the Minnesota Gambling Control Board for an event to be held at the Lakeville VFW on
October 8, 2012.

to be involved in lawful gambling activities in Minnesota. Your
