Home My WebLink AboutItem 06.iOctober 12, 2012 Item No. Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Assets Proposed Action Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution authorizing the sale of assets. Passage of this resolution would allow the sale of assets. Overview City staff is recommending the sale of city assets which have exceeded their useful life. In addition, the sale includes an assortment of items (premiums) received for liquor purchases. The assets will be sold using an on -line auction services. In addition to City assets, there are a number of items which were donated by the public to be sold and contributed to Heritage Center as part of the community fundraising initiatives. The Police Department has also included in the auction, items which we confiscated as a result of criminal investigations. In order to receive the highest and best price for the jewelry items, staff is recommending solicitation of quotes from area jewelers and brokers. Related Documents (CIP, ERP, etc.): Notes: Staff Analysis of Primary Issues Resolution authorizing the sale of assets e When and how does the auction take place? a) Auction Masters will take pictures and catalog all items. They will then be posted on their website at www.au The items will be listed for approximately one week with public inspection to be conducted on Saturday October 20. The final bidding date of Tuesday, October 23rd. All items will then be paid for and picked up on Wednesday, October 24th. b) Police Department — jewelry. The jewelry contains a significant amount of gold. Jewelry dealers and brokers have advised staff that the highest and best prices will be obtained from professionals who deal in this type of commodity. f How are the anticipated profits from these items to be used? The proceeds will be allocated based on the source of the assets. The distribution for each of the assets is shown in Exhibit A. The police confiscated assets shown in Exhibit B will be distributed to the General Fund. CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Police Department confiscated assets shown on Exhibit B attached hereto are hereby authorized to the sold to the highest bidder received from solicited quotes from responsible dealers. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that anv items not sold as shown on Fxhihit A attached hereto are authorized to be disposed of.
