Spotlight on Business
Genpak
Item No.
The Spotlight on Business program is designed to recognize new and existing commercial
and industrial businesses in the Lakeville community. The program is also designed to
emphasize, for residents, the important tax and employment benefits that business and
industry provide to the community.
Genpak will be featured at the October 15 City Council meeting. Community & Economic
Development Director, David Olson will present the information on Genpak, and plant
manager Russ Snyder will be present to accept this recognition.
Genpak is an industry leading flexible packaging manufacturer that consolidated operations
to Lakeville earlier this year. After purchasing the former Berry Plastics building in the Airlake
Industrial Park, Genpak combined their existing 46,000 square foot Lakeville operation and a
Bloomington facility into their recently acquired 210,000 square foot Lakeville manufacturing
plant. This move brought over 100 jobs to the Lakeville community.
Started in 1969 in Middletown, New York Genpak now has 18 facilities throughout the United
States and Canada with their corporate headquarters located in Glenn Falls, New York. With a
stated focus on the environment, each facility undergoes their own, internal environmental
stewardship program focusing on aggressive energy savings, recycling and efficiency
programs. While a large portion of the business is food packaging, Genpak also produces
flexible packaging for the construction, medical, and dental industries along with many other
products for their diverse customer base.
Genpak is locally managed and settling in to their new Lakeville space with 150 employees.
Their former Lakeville building is now occupied by another growing manufacturer that is new
to Lakeville.
