HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08Memorandum To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Steven C Mielke, City Administrator Copy: Date: January 25, 2013 Subject: Meeting Protocols Mayor Little has requested that I add to the work session agenda a discussion of meeting protocols and procedures to ensure that the Council is satisfied with the methods that have been used for Council meetings. Some potential areas of discussion could include: City of Lakeville Administration 1. How citizen comments are handled; how much time is afforded in citizen comments. 2. Use of sign -in sheets or other methods of recording names and addresses at public hearings and /or citizen comments 3. Council dialogue and voting protocols. (i.e. providing adequate time for discussion; forecasting votes; explaining reasons for "no" votes. 4. Roll call voting versus group response voting? 5. Routing of staff questions through Administrator. No action or changes are required. The purpose of the discussion is to determine if changes are needed.
