HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.kFebruary 19, 2013 Item No. Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Assets (Fire Truck) Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Assets (Fire Truck). Overview Council approval of the 2013 Capital Improvement Plan included a replacement for Brush Truck 1 (8189). Delivery of the replacement brush is expected in May 2013. In order to comply with Minnesota statutes regarding equipment dispositions, the City staff is recommending the 1989 fire brush vehicle be sold by sealed bids. The recommended public bid opening is 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Lakeville City Hall Council Chambers. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Primary Issues to Consider • Method of sale alternatives. The assets are proposed to be sold by sealed bid. Other alternative sale methods include public auction or consignment at other auction locations. Since the assets are considered to have limited value, the staff believes the most cost effective method is sealed bids. • Public notification. Notice of the bid opening will be advertised in the Messages edition, Smoke Eater, and with various used fire vehicle sellers.
