Seasonal and Temporary Employee Salaries. Passage of this motion will increase the wage for interns. Overview The City Council approved the recruitment and hiring of two interns for the Engineering Division in the 2013 budget. Prior to recruitment, the department was advised to conduct a survey to determine what other cities and businesses were paying for interns. The results of the survey indicate that Lakeville's salary is low. Staff is proposing that the City increase the wage for interns from $11.00 per hour to a range of $12.50 to $13.50 per hour to provide a more competitive wage. This range should assist the division in their recruitment efforts. The Personnel Committee has reviewed the information and is recommending approval of the increase. Primary Issues to Consider • How will the proposed range compare with our neighboring cities? • Will this change impact the budget?
