PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING APRIL 23, 2013 AS
LAKEVILLE SENIORS VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION DAY

As part of National Volunteer Week, the Lakeville Seniors will be acknowledging the many
volunteers who make things happen all year with a recognition program and lunch. Senior
volunteer opportunities include picking up day old bread, instructing programs, assisting
with special event meals (setup and cleanup), telephone committee, greeting cards, Pan -O-
Prog, flu shots, bazaars, Waffle Breakfast and Christmas tree setup and take -down. This special
volunteer recognition program and lunch will be held to thank the many volunteers on
Tuesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. This year's theme is, "Volunteers —The Heart of Our Program."
Ted Billy, President, and Doreen Machin, Secretary, will be present at the City Council meeting
to accept the proclamation. Staff is requesting City Council consider approval of a
proclamation designating April 23, 2013 as Lakeville Seniors Volunteer Recognition Day.
Proclamation
Whereas, the Lakeville City Council in its support of volunteerism has
designated the week of April 21 -27, 2013 as Volunteer Recognition
Week in Lakeville; and
Whereas, volunteers are a vital resource, contributing to the health,
education, welfare, recreation, culture and environment of the
participants of the Lakeville Seniors; and
Whereas, volunteers of the Lakeville Seniors are carrying on the rich tradition
of helping others by enriching the lives of the senior community
through concern, commitment, and generosity of spirit; and
Whereas, the Council recognizes that the valuable contributions of the
volunteers at the Lakeville Seniors have made the senior community
a better place in which to live; and
Whereas, the Lakeville Seniors will give special recognition to its volunteers for
their time and efforts on April 23, 2013.
Therefore, the City Council of the City of Lakeville hereby proclaims
April 23, 2013 as
Lakeville Seniors Volunteer Recognition Day
