RESOLUTION ALLOWING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE
TASTINGS AND SALES AT THE LAKEVILLE HERITAGE CENTER
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution allowing
tastings and alcoholic beverage sales at the Lakeville Heritage Center
Passage of this motion will result in Lakeville Liquor's ability to host fundraising wine and beer
tasting events and conduct alcoholic beverage sales at the Heritage Center as an on -sale
offset of the municipal liquor operation.
Overview
The resolution above allows the Heritage Center to be utilized as a municipal on -sale liquor
store operation, allowing Lakeville Liquors to conduct fundraising wine and beer events such
as Summer Splash at the Lakeville Heritage Center. All revenue generated by such events
would go directly back to the Heritage Center construction and maintenance fees.
Secondly, it allows Lakeville Liquors the ability to operate alcoholic beverage bar service for
events such as weddings and other large social gatherings. This ensures that the Heritage
Center would be competitive in booking and hosting such events.
Primary Issues to Consider
• What allows this to occur?
• Whose staff would host these events and how would it be controlled?
• Who will benefit from the proceeds of such events?
