HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-17CITY OF LAKEVILLE PARKS, RECREATION & NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 17, 2013 Chair Kelly called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Members Present: Lori Bovitz, Tom Goodwin, Judy Hayes, Scott Kelly, Jeanne Peterson, Bob Swan Members Absent: Howard Lovelace, Jerry Zell Staff Present: Parks & Recreation Director Brett Altergott, Natural Resources Manager Mac Cafferty, Recording Secretary Patty Ruedy 2. Nomination and election of officers for 2013 Officers were willing to keep their positions for 2013. Peterson added that she would like to see more collaboration with City staff on the development of the meeting agendas as well as more idea generation by the committee. Motion made by Goodwin, seconded by Peterson to reinstate current officers to the Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Committee for 2013. Ayes: unanimous 3. Approval of April 3, 2013 minutes Minutes were approved as presented. 4. Citizen comments There were no citizen comments. 5. LBA project proposals: King and Michaud Parks Chuck Ryan from the LBA and staff reviewed the proposal by LBA to install four additional batting cages at King Park and construct dugouts at Michaud Park. Motion made by Hayes, seconded by Bovitz to approve updates and additions to King Park and Michaud Park as presented. Ayes: unanimous 6. Staff report Family Fun Fest on April 13 went great. Park Maintenance has not been able to open the fields due to weather. Over $6,300 was donated to the Heritage Center in the first quarter. Work has begun on finishing the retaining wall at Orchard Lake; the project will include a shoreline restoration as well. South Creek Greenway findings will be presented to the committee in May or June. Park dedication fees will be reviewed annual as part of the budget. 7. Hoppe Marketplace 3rd Addition preliminary and final plat Staff reviewed the plat. Park dedication fees have already been collected. Motion made by Goodwin, seconded by Peterson to approve Hoppe Marketplace 3rd Addition preliminary and final plat as presented by City staff. Ayes: unanimous Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Committee Meeting Minutes, April 17, 2013 Page 2 8. Stone Ridge preliminary plat Staff reviewed the plat. Park dedication fees will be collected at time of final plat. Sidewalks are planned in the neighborhood as well as a trail through outlot B. There will be approximately 7,000 square feet of wetland impact, as compared to 15,000 square feet of wetland impact when the plat was brought forward from the previous developer. Motion made by Kelly, seconded by Goodwin to approve Stone Ridge preliminary plat as presented by City staff. Ayes: unanimous 9. Other business 137 trees and shrubs have been sold. Community cleanup day will be held on Saturday. At a future meeting, Hayes would like the committee to discuss some possible ways to fundraise to pay for special projects or improvements to the park system. 10.
