RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR
CHARITABLE GAMBLING
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution granting
approval to the Lakeville Lions to obtain an Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit from
the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.
Passage of this motion will allow the Lakeville Lions to conduct an off -site gambling event
(raffle) on July 11, 2013.
Overview
The Lakeville Lions Club applied to the State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board to
conduct off -site gambling at the Lakeville Area Arts Center on July 11, 2013. A raffle is being
held in conjunction with the Panorama of Progress Beer, Brats & Bingo event. The application
requires approval by City Council resolution.
Minnesota law allows four off -site events each calendar year. This is the first off -site event
being conducted by the Lions in 2013.

• The Lakeville Lions is a qualified organization and currently conducts lawful
gambling at Carbone's, Goodfella's and Casa Bistro.

WHEREAS, Minnesota Law allows four off -site events each calendar year; and
WHEREAS, the application requires approval by City Council resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lakeville
grants approval to the Lakeville Lions to obtain an Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit
from the Minnesota Gambling Control Board for an event to be held at the Lakeville Area Arts
Center on July 11, 2013.
