HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.dMay 29, 2013 Item No. RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution granting approval to the Lakeville Lions to obtain an Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit from the Minnesota Gambling Control Board. Passage of this motion will allow the Lakeville Lions to conduct an off -site gambling event (raffle) on July 11, 2013. Overview The Lakeville Lions Club applied to the State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board to conduct off -site gambling at the Lakeville Area Arts Center on July 11, 2013. A raffle is being held in conjunction with the Panorama of Progress Beer, Brats & Bingo event. The application requires approval by City Council resolution. Minnesota law allows four off -site events each calendar year. This is the first off -site event being conducted by the Lions in 2013. Primary Issues to Consider • Does this organization meet the qualifications for an Off -site Lawful Gambling Premises Permit? • The Lakeville Lions is a qualified organization and currently conducts lawful gambling at Carbone's, Goodfella's and Casa Bistro.
