HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.iJune 12, 2013 Item No. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CITY STREETS FOR PAN- O -PROG EVENT'S Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Approve resolution authorizing temporary closing of city streets for Panorama of Progress events. Overview Each year, the Pan -O -Prog Board requests the 'temporary closing of certain streets in the downtown area for Pan -O -Prog events. These events include the Street Market, Cruise Night, Kiddie Parade, Car Show and Grand Parade. The resolution also authorizes the temporary closing of streets near Lakeville North High School for the 4 " of July fireworks. In the event of inclement weather on July 4 1 h causing the fireworks event to be postponed to July 5", the same street closures would apply to the backup date. As in the past, a Dakota County Obstruction Permit is required to close 202 Street from Dodd Boulevard to Highview Avenue for the Grand Parade. The Police Department has received a verbal commitment from Dakota County that the permit would be issued. Primary Issues to Consider What impact will the street closures have on motorists? Signs are posted well in advance to alert motorists of the street closures. Information wiI1 also be provided in Messages and on the City's website.
