Construction Project Updates
LAKEVILLE PUBLIC WORKS
Christopher Petree, Director
August 2013
Construction projects both in and around the City continue to progress toward
completion.
Interstate -35 Construction. Most of the work north of the 35W/35E split has been
completed and Mn DOT is shifting its efforts to the areas south of the split. On
September 2 " crews will move both, north and southbound traffic to the same
side of the road starting at County Road 2 in the Elko /New Market area up to
County Road 70 in Lakeville. This will continue to be single lane in each direction
until September 23rd. After that time the single lane will extend all the way to
County Road 50. There will be single lane traffic north of County Road 50 on 6
through September 9th as crews
continue repairs. They will also begin
grinding in the next few -- m` , 1°y°41r °.

Diamond grinding is a concrete
pavement restoration technique that
corrects irregularities in the pavement
producing a smoother riding surface
and enhanced surface texture and
friction. Both the 185th Street ramp to
northbound 1 -35 and the northbound
1 -35 ramp to County Road 50 will be
closed during construction. For
updates please see the I- 35/I -35E
improvements page at the Mn DOT
website.

Dodd Boulevard - Highview
Avenue Roundabout. Work has
extended to the section of
Highview Avenue north of the
roundabout. Crews have been
busy improving that section of
roadway to and from the
roundabout. Some asphalt has
been laid in preparation for a new
overlay from 175th Street to
the roundabout. Along. Dodd
Boulevard, the first layer of
asphalt has been laid from
Hayes Ave to the roundabout
and crews are focusing on the
western end up to 183rd
Street and will be pouring
curb and gutter in the next
couple of weeks. Paving will
occur shortly after that with
the final course of asphalt laid
toward the end of
September.
Flashing Yellow Arrows. Flashing yellow arrows have now been installed in
locations in Lakeville. One is at the intersection of Dodd Boulevard and 202
Street and the other is at the intersection of County Road 46 and Kenrick Avenue.
An informative video is available on the City's website.
Street Reconstruction. The street
reconstruction project in Valley
Park, Clays Acres, and along 204th
Street is proceeding as expected.
In Valley Park, work continues in
the second phase of that project
with streets being graded and
prepared to receive their first layer
of asphalt. Also, crews are
cleaning up behind the curb for
the restoration of landscaping.

In Clays Acres, the final sections of
water main have been installed
and water service is being
restored to the remaining
customers. Curb and gutter has
been poured in some areas and a
small section of asphalt has been
laid along 208th Street. The work
on 204th Street will begin in
September.
Kenrick Avenue - 205th Street
Roundabout. While the
roundabout is substantially
complete, there are a few areas
that are still in work. One of those
areas is the box culvert extension
underneath Kenrick Avenue just
south of the roundabout. The final
course of asphalt on the
roundabout has been laid and
restoration of landscaping will
begin shortly.
168th Street Bridge Replacement.
The last major project from 2012's
street reconstruction is the
replacement of the bridge over
North Creek at 168th Street and
Gannon Avenue. Crews have been
focused in recent weeks on
installation of new support
footings and the removal of the
old bridge deck and supporting
walls. This project is on schedule
and is planned to be completed in
early October.

175th Street Trail. Over the last
couple of weeks, older sections of
the trail along 175t" Street were
removed and the base graded
and compacted to receive a new
course of asphalt. That new
asphalt was laid during the last
week of August. These were
older sections of trail that were
deteriorating and needed
replacement.
••• Pedestrian Crossing Installation
There have been several sections of the trail
along 205t" Street that have had new
pedestrian ramps installed that comply with
American's with Disabilities Act requirements.
These will all be completed in the next few
weeks. A similar project has been completed at
the intersection of Jacquard Avenue and Ivory
Lane. This intersection is a natural crossing
point for those going to and leaving Lakeville
South High School from the nearby residential
development. New pedestrian ramps have
been installed and Streets Division staff
completed painting of the pedestrian
crosswalk blocks and installation of signs both
at the crosswalk and in advance of the
crosswalk as a warning to motorists.
