CITY OF LAKEVILLE
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
CANVASSING BOARD
NOVEMBER 7, 2002
Acting Mayor Mulvihill called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Roll call was taken. Present: Council Members Bellows, Mulvihill, and Rieb.
Absent: Mayor Johnson and Council Member Luick.
Also present: R. Knutson, City Attorney; B. Erickson, City Administrator; C.
Friedges, City Clerk.
The .City Clerk presented the results of the November 5, 2002 City General
Election. The vote totals from the 14 precincts were reported as follows:
Mark Chester Luehrs 3,069
Mark Bellows 8,149
Wendy Wulff 7,921
Lynette Mulvihill 7,848
There were 20,171 persons who voted in this election, representing 77% of the
city's registered voters.
02.149 Motion was made by Rieb, seconded by Bellows to receive the City Clerk's
report and declare the official results of the November 5, 2002, City General
Election, as attached to these minutes.
Roll call was taken on the motion. Ayes, Bellows, Mulvihill, Rieb.
The City Attorney explained that according to State Statute, a recount is
required (paid for by the City) if the vote difference between the winner with
the lowest vote count and the looser with the highest vote count is less than one-
half ofone percent. The vote difference between candidates Wulff and
Mulvihill is 73, which is less than one-half of one percent of the votes cast for
the two candidates. The losing candidate, however, must request a required
recount.
Council Member Mulvihill stated she would not request a recount.
There being no further business, Acting Mayor Mulvihill adjourned the meeting
at 5:36 p.m.
