HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.jNovember 22, 2013 Item No. RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution granting approval to the Lakeville Lions to conduct off -site gambling. Passage of this motion will allow the Lakeville Lions to conduct a raffle at Lakeville Heritage Center on December 19, 2013. Overview The Lakeville Lions Club applied to the State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board to conduct off -site gambling at the Heritage Center on December 19, 2013. The Lakeville Lions Club is a qualified organization and currently conducts lawful gambling at Carbone's and Goodfella's. The application requires approval by City Council resolution. Primary Issues to Consider • Does this organization meet the qualifications to conduct lawful gambling? • Minnesota law allows 12 off -site events each calendar year. This is the third off -site event being conducted by the Lions in 2013.
