Resolution Appointing Advisory Board for Special Service District
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution Appointing
the - Advisory Board for Special Service District No. 1.
Overview
Section 8.01 of the Ordinance Authorizing Creation of Special Service District #1 states "An
advisory board to be known as the Special Service District Advisory Board consisting of a
number of members determined by the City Council, at its discretion, who are residents of the
District or owners (or their representatives) of property within the District, may be created by the
City Council by resolution."
The Downtown Lakeville Business Association is recommending the following persons be
appointed to the Special Service District Advisory Board.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE ADVISORY BOARD FOR
SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT NO. 1
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 631 on July 6, 1998, Authorizing
Creation of Special Service District No. 1 for certain property located adjacent to Holyoke, Holt
and Howland Avenues from 202 Street West on the north to 210th Street West on the south;
and
WHEREAS, Section 8 of the ordinance calls for the creation of an Advisory Board
consisting of members appointed by the City Council who are residents of the District or owners
(or their representatives) of property within the District; and
WHEREAS, the Downtown Lakeville Business Association has submitted a list of 10
nominees to serve on the Advisory Board at the request of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Advisory Board's role shall be to advice the City Council in connection
with the furnishing of special services and the construction, maintenance and operation of
improvements in the District; to make recommendations to the City Council on requests and
complaints or owners, occupants, and users of property within the District and members of the
public; and to review and comment upon any proposal to provide services or impose taxes of
service charges within the District prior to the adoption of any such proposals by the City
Council.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following individuals shall serve on the
Advisory Board for Special Service District No. 1:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Advisory Board membership shall remain in
effect until expiration of Special Services District No. 1. The City Council reserves the right at its
discretion to remove members of the advisory board, with or without cause, or to disband and
terminate the advisory board before the expiration of the District per Section 8, Ordinance No.
631.
ADOPTED this 21st day of January, 2014, by the City Council of the City of Lakeville,
Minnesota.
