Passage of this motion will allow the State to revise the City's Municipal State Aid system. Overview Municipal State Aid (MSA) rules allow each city with a population of 5,000 or over to designate 20% of local improved mileage as Municipal State Aid routes. The roads proposed to be added to the City's MSA system are identified as collector streets in the City's Transportation Plan. The criteria used to support the requested MSA system revisions are indicated in the attached letter from the City to MnDOT. The proposed revisions provide the City with a remaining available mileage of 0.55 miles for future MSA designation. Pri M Issues to Consider • What are MSA funds used for? MSA funds must be used for the construction or reconstruction of roads on the City's MSA system to established standards. • Now much MSA funding does the City receive? The City receives an annual allotment of approximately $2.2 million. g- upportin Information a,,,-- • Letter from City dated February 28, 2014 • Letter from MnDOT dated April 10, 2014 Engineer Financial Impact: $0 Related Documents (CIP, ERP, etc.): Notes: Budgeted: N/A Source: CITE' OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO.
