HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.uJune 16, 2014 0 Item No. RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution _ ranting approval to the Lakeville Lions to conduct off-site gambling, Passage of this motion will allow the Lakeville Lions to conduct a raffle at the Lakeville Area Arts Center on July 10, 2014. Overview The Lakeville Lions Club is applying to the State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board to conduct off-site gambling at the Lakeville Area Arts Center in conjunction with its annual Beer, Brats & Bingo event. The Lakeville Lions Club is a qualified organization and currently conducts lawful gambling at Carbone's and Goodfella's. The application requires approval by City Council resolution. Primary Issues to Consider Does this organization meet the qualifications to conduct lawful gambling? Minnesota law allows 12 off-site events each calendar year.
