RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR
CHARITABLE GAMBLING
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution _ ranting
approval to the Lakeville Lions to conduct off-site gambling,
Passage of this motion will allow the Lakeville Lions to conduct a raffle at the Lakeville Area
Arts Center on July 10, 2014.
Overview
The Lakeville Lions Club is applying to the State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board to
conduct off-site gambling at the Lakeville Area Arts Center in conjunction with its annual
Beer, Brats & Bingo event. The Lakeville Lions Club is a qualified organization and currently
conducts lawful gambling at Carbone's and Goodfella's.
The application requires approval by City Council resolution.

Minnesota law allows 12 off-site events each calendar year.

RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL FOR CHARITABLE GAMBLING
WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville received an application from the Lakeville Lions to
conduct off-site gambling at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Law allows 12 off-site events each calendar year; and
WHEREAS, the application requires approval by City Council resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lakeville
grants approval to the Lakeville Lions to obtain an off-site gambling permit from the
Minnesota Gambling Control Board for a raffle to be held at the Lakeville Area Arts Center on
July 10, 2014.
