The City, Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitor Bureau, Lake Marion Home Owners
Association and Pan-O-Prog Board have been approached by the Twin City Power Boat
Association (TCPBA) to gage the community's interest in having boat races on Lake Marion
July 11-12, 2015. In July 2014, members of the TCPBA met with City and Chamber staff as well
as the President of the Lake Marion Association. At this meeting TCPBA representatives
presented an overview of their organization, the boats/race classes, safety protocols and
proposed race course. The proposal was met with enthusiasm by all in attendance.
City staff felt it was important to involve the City Council in the process prior to any further
discussions regarding boat races on Lake Marion. Brian Tabara, Commodore of the TCPBA,
will make a brief presentation and answer any questions that council members may have.
