FIRE FIGHTING SERVICE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF LAKEVILLE AND
EUREKA TOWNSHIP
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Fire Fighting Service
Agreement between the City of Lakeville and Eureka Township.
Approval of the motion will approve the Fire Fighting Service Agreement between the City of
Lakeville and Eureka Township.
Overview
The City of Lakeville has contractually provided fire services to the western half of Eureka
Township for decades; the City of Farmington serves the eastern half.
The proposed Agreement is for a four year term with all terms and conditions consistent with
those of prior Agreements. Eureka Township therefore has agreed to reimburse the City of
Lakeville $37,190; $38,160; $39,150 and $40,170 for the years 2015 - 18 respectively.
The Town Board approved the agreement at their January 12 meeting.
Primary Issues to Consider
• Agreement relative to cost of services. Eureka is paying approximately 1.69% of the
costs for the Fire Department. The Fire Department responds to approximately 13-19
calls per year in Eureka which represent 1.5 - 2.0% of all fire calls.
