HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-01-00 SMCITY OF LAKEVILLE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING BOARD OF REVIEW MAY 1, 2000 Mayor Zaun called the reconvened meeting of the Lakeville Board of Review to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken. Present: Council Members Johnson, Mulvihill, Luick and Mayor Zaun. Absent: Council Member Sindt. Also present: B. Erickson, City Administrator; D. Feller, Finance Director; C. Friedges, City Clerk. Mr. Bill Peterson, Dakota County Assessor, provided the following information to the Board of Review: • Year 2000 Lakeville Board of Review Attendees • Properties Reviewed per Attendance at the Local Board of Review but No Changes Made dated .April 27, 2000 • Changes in Market Value as Recommended by the Dakota County Assessor through April 26, 2000 • Reviews Pending as of April 26, 2000 Mr. Peterson. stated a letter was submitted by James and Barbara Briant, 17633 Kettering Trail, opposing the assessor's market value on their property. He explained that Mr. Briant was present at the April 10th Board of Review meeting. The assessor's office is waiting for Mr. Briant to provide further market analysis information. Therefore, no action needs to be taken at this time by the Board of Review. Council Member. Mulvihill asked if the Board of Review needs to take any action on the Reviews Pending.. Mr. Peterson explained that his staff is waiting for additional market analysis information from these property owners. If, after the County completes its review, these property .owners are still not satisfied, they can appeal their case to the County Board of Equalization. 00.81 Motion was made by Mulvihill, seconded by Johnson to approve the Properties Reviewed per Attendance at the Local Board of Review but No Changes Made dated April 27, 2000 and the Changes in Market Value as Recommended by the Dakota County Assessor through April 26, 2000; and receive the letter from James and Barbara Briant dated April 27, 2000.. Roll call was taken on the motion. Ayes, Johnson, Zaun, Mulvihill, Luick. • The City Council discussed discontinuing the local board of review process and transferring the duties to the Dakota County Board of Equalization CITY OF LAKEVILLE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MAY 1, 2000 PAGE 2 • beginning in the year 2001. Mr. Erickson pointed out the significant costs incurred by Dakota County to carry out this process on the local level. However, he recommended the City Council wait until. the second meeting in November to take any formal action on discontinuing the Board of Review.
