PARKS, RECREATION & NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
January 21, 2015
Co-Chair Peterson called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City
Hall.
Members Present: Lori Bovitz, Tom Goodwin, Judy Hayes (arrived at 6:01 p.m.),
Howard Lovelace, Jeanne Peterson, Bob Swan (Left at 7:13 p.m.)
Members Absent: Scott Kelly
Staff Present: Parks & Recreation Director Brett Altergott, Recording Secretary
Tamara Wallace
2. Approval of January 7 minutes
Minutes were approved as presented.
3. Citizen comments
There were no citizen comments.
4. Staff report
The request for extension of the North Creek Greenway project was given a
positive recommendation by the Metropolitan Council’s P rogram and Funding
Committee; there are two other committees that must approve the extension before
it is officially granted.
The Snowshoe Scamper event was cancelled due to low registrations likely as a
result of the lack of snow.
On Saturday, January 31, a group called Socaholix will be coming to the Arts
Center featuring Caribbean music and dancing. Tickets are now on sale.
5. Timbercrest at Lakeville 7th Addition Preliminary & Final Plat & CUP
Staff reviewed the Timbercrest at Lakeville 7th Addition preliminary & final plat &
CUP and discussed storm water drainage, sidewalks, and the minimal
environmental impacts.
Motion made by Judy Hayes, seconded by Howard Lovelace and Tom
Goodwin to recommend to City Council approval of the Timbercrest at Lakeville 7th
Addition preliminary & Final plat & CUP, subject to the recommendations as
presented by City staff.
Ayes: unanimous
6. 2015 PRNRC Work Plan
Parks and Recreation director, Brett Altergott, presented a revised outline of the
2015 work plan for the committee following last meetings discussions of what items
should be reviewed.

Motion was made by Judy Hayes, seconded by Bob Swan to recommend
adoption of this work plan into action as the guide for future Parks, Recreation, &
Natural Resources Committee meetings.
Ayes: unanimous
Members also expressed the need to tie this work plan in with the goals of
“Envision Lakeville.” The committee will begin working on item 1, “Studying the
effect of social changes on parks & recreation facilities and programs” at the
February 4 meeting.
7. Other Business
Committee members discussed the upcoming reappointment process of their
position on the Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Committee, and clarified
when the committee will vote on the elected roles.
