HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.fApril 20, 2015 Item No.________ AUTHORIZE THE SALE OF 1988 SPARTAN 150 G.P.M. 75 FOOT TELE-SQUIRT FIRE DEPARTMENT AERIAL LADDER TRUCK Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to Authorize the Sale of a 1988 Spartan 1750 GPM 75 Foot Tele-squirt Fire Department Aerial Fire Ladder Truck. Passage of this motion will result in the sale of a 1988 Spartan 1750 GPM 75 Foot Tele-squirt Fire Department Aerial Fire Ladder Truck to Gear Up Foundation. Overview On February 2, 2015 authorization was given to sell the ladder truck for a selling range of $25,000– $75,000 with Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus Brokerage. The ladder was advertised for an asking price of $40,000 and no offers were received. On March 30th we reduced the asking price to $25,000 or Best Offer. Primary Issues to Consider • Proposal from Gear Up Foundation for $21,750 • Sales Commission. Brindlee Mountain charges a 10% commission based on sales price. Based on this, we hereby offer your department $21,750.00 to procure this truck and take delivery at the time of payment. These departments are very poorly equipped. Many times our brother firefighters respond with NO turnout gear, S.C.B.A., limited hose. They run into working fires many times with sandals, shorts and wet T-shirts on their faces as their only protection.
