6. Recreation Programming Discussion
As part of the Committee’s 2015 Work Plan, the recreation staff joined the meeting
to have a conversation on various programming opportunities and ideas the
members have previously discussed. Committee members brought up a hope to
see more offerings for teenagers like soccer recreational leagues in the summer,
more activities in the evenings at the Heritage Center for active adults who still
work, the installation of more pickleball courts, the need for a community center
and/ or dome to house these sports, a system that would send out surveys to
collect feedback following a recreation programs completion, and the need for an
improvement campaign to show the economic impact Parks & Recreation programs
have on the community.
7. Other Business
Staff is working with the Heritage Center Active Adults to establish their board as a
sub-committee of the Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources committee rather
than a separate board. Under the proposed structure, the Active Adults’ board
would be comprised of members who were appointed to their position for a specific
term after going through an interview process that the Parks Committee would
participate in.
