HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.g May 27, 2015 Item No._____ Extension of the On-Sale Liquor License for Babes Sports Bar and Grill Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the extension of the On- Sale Liquor License for Babes Sports Bar and Grill Passage of this motion will result in the ability of Babes Sports Bar and Grill to serve alcoholic beverages in their fenced parking lot on July 9-11and to have live entertainment in the fenced in parking lot of their establishment until midnight on July 10 and 11. Overview Babes Sports Bar and Grill has requested an extension of their on-sale liquor license to cover the sale of alcohol in their fenced in parking lot, as well as live music entertainment, during their annual Pan-O-Prog events. These events have been held for several years without major issues. A site plan and an insurance certificate have been provided with the request. The site plan addresses security issues as well as entrance and exit issues. The establishment will be required to send a letter to the surrounding neighbors advising them of the event. The police department reviewed the request and has no objection to the extension of the liquor license, provided Babes abides by the site plan and attached list of stipulations. Primary Issues to Consider • What measures will be taken to assure that persons under the age of 21 will not have access to alcohol? (See attached list of stipulations) • What measures will be taken to assure that outdoor activities will cease at midnight? (See attached list of stipulations) Supporting Information • Stipulations, Schedule of Events, Site Plan Charlene Friedges, City Clerk Financial Impact: $ N/A Budgeted: Y/N ____ Source: __________________ Related Documents (CIP, ERP, etc.): _______________________________________ Community Values : A Sense of Community and Belonging Council Report – Page 2 Stipulations  Double fencing will be erected around the site per the submitted site plan  Portable toilets listed and placed per the submitted site plan  Notification, via letter, to surrounding neighbors expected to be impacted by the event advising them of the event and what to expect  Controlled access to the event with Babe’s security personnel to identify and wrist band those of legal age to consume alcohol  Events are “21 and over” events after 9:30 p.m.  All outdoor live music will be done by midnight on Friday and Saturday  All outside alcohol service will cease at midnight on Thursday  All alcohol service will cease at midnight on Friday and Saturday  Babe’s security will assist the police department in clearing the establishment after midnight  The closing time should be prominently displayed throughout, so there is no confusion at the end of the evening when patrons are asked to leave  For the Friday event, Babes will hire six off duty police officers to supplement their security staff as agreed upon with the police department  For the Saturday event, Babe’s will hire six off duty police officers to supplement their security as agreed upon with the police department  The Police Chief, Fire Chief or his designee has the authority to direct the event manager to control the level of noise and/or terminate the event at any time  Tent plan must be submitted to Fire Inspector Brian Carstensen and must comply with fire code requirements
