HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-20-15CITY OF LAKEVILLE PARKS, RECREATION & NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 20, 2015 Co-chair Peterson called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. in the Lake Marion Conference Room at City Hall. Members Present: Lori Bovitz, Judy Hayes, Scott Kelly (arrived at 6:17 p.m.), Howard Lovelace, Jeanne Peterson Members Absent: Tom Goodwin, Bob Swan Staff Present: Parks & Recreation Director Brett Altergott, Environmental Resources Manager Mac Cafferty, Recording Secretary Tamara Wallace 2. Approval of May 6 minutes Minutes were approved as presented. 3. Citizen comments There were no citizen comments. 4. Staff report Staff is currently gearing up for summer programs and projects; some seasonal staff has started working in the office but the full seasonal staff will begin in June. Taste of Lakeville took place on Thursday, May 14; staff is currently working on ground maintenance at the Arts Center. Shelter reservation rentals remain strong following the adjustments to the fee structure at the start of 2015. The contract for Hype Surf Co. has been finalized and signed; Hype Surf Co. will begin paddleboard rentals/ tours at Antlers Park as of Friday, May 22. Staff is also working with Jonny Pops to bring an ice cream cart to Antlers Park. 5. Pheasant Run Preliminary Plat Staff reviewed the Pheasant Run Preliminary Plat and discussed storm water infiltration, the North Creek Greenway, tree preservation, and trail installation. Motion made by Jeanne Peterson, seconded by Judy Hayes to recommend to City Council approval of the Pheasant Run Preliminary plat subject to the recommendations as presented by City staff. Ayes: unanimous 6. Kenyon Retail Preliminary & Final Plat Staff reviewed the Kenyon Retail Preliminary & Final plat and discussed the lot size, storm water ponding, and tree preservation. Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Committee Meeting Minutes, May 20, 2015 Page 2 Motion made by Jeanne Peterson, seconded by Howard Lovelace to recommend to City Council approval of the Kenyon Retail Preliminary & Final plat subject to the recommendations as presented by City staff . Ayes: unanimous 7. Other Business Staff discussed the upcoming interviews for the appointment of the Lakeville Active Adults Committee. The deadline for application submission is Fr iday, May 22, and interviews will be held at the next Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Committee meeting on June 3. As a follow-up from last meeting, staff is currently working with a company on pricing and design for nametags that would identify members as a part of the Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resource Committee when attending City events or programs. 8. Announcements Currently taking registrations for the Pan-O-Prog Run held on Saturday, July 11; committee members were encouraged to volunteer if possible. 9.
