PARKS, RECREATION & NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
June 3, 2015
Chair Swan called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Lake Marion Conference
Room at City Hall.
Members Present: Lori Bovitz, Tom Goodwin (arrived at 6:03 p.m.), Judy Hayes, Scott
Kelly, Howard Lovelace. Bob Swan
Members Absent: Jeanne Peterson
Staff Present: Parks & Recreation Director Brett Altergott, Environmental Resources
Manager Mac Cafferty, Recording Secretary Tamara Wallace
2. Approval of May 20 minutes
Minutes were approved as presented.
3. Citizen comments
There were no citizen comments.
4. Staff report
There was no staff report.
5. Sonnet Preliminary & Final Plat
Staff reviewed the Sonnet Preliminary & Final Plat and discussed drainage issues,
sidewalk installation, tree preservation, and landscaping requirements.
Motion made by Judy Hayes, seconded by Lori Bovitz to recommend to City
Council approval of the Sonnet Preliminary & Final Plat subject to the
recommendations as presented by City staff.
Ayes: unanimous
6. Chokecherry Hill 4th Addition Preliminary Plat
Staff reviewed the Chokecherry Hill 4th Addition Preliminary Plat and discussed
trails, park dedication requirements, the greenway, sidewalk location, and drainage
issues. In addition, there was concern over the project’s lack of tree preservation,
as well as lot 5, block 1 being close to the wetland.
Motion made by Howard Lovelace, seconded by Tom Goodwin to recommend
to City Council approval of the Chokecherry Hill 4th Addition Preliminary Plat subject
to the recommendations as presented by City staff .

7. Other Business
Staff has recently collected bids for the work needed at Pioneer Plaza in downtown
Lakeville. The bid and scope of work will be presented at the June 15 City Council
meeting, and construction will hopefully begin following Pan -O-Prog. The Rotary is
donating $12,000 towards the purchase of 12 benches for the plaza.
8. Announcements
The Parks & Recreation department is now on Twitter; this account will be used to
send quick messages to residents and general public – for example, field closings
or program updates.
9. Adjourn
Meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
Interviews for the Lakeville Active Adults Committee were held following the meeting.
