50/60 Roundabout.
The roundabout has changed
dramatically over the last 30 days.
Piles of dirt that marked the
roundabout are gone and the
basic outline of the roundabout is
plainly visible. Crews are pouring
curb and gutter and the first
layers of asphalt have been
paved at the western and
northern approaches.
Remaining work includes
storm sewer installation, curb
and gutter installation, and
grading and paving of the
eastern and southern
approaches. The project is
scheduled to be complete by
the end of August.
Holyoke Avenue Water Tower.
The foundation has been poured and
a crew has been working on setting
the forms and pouring the ring wall. It
is on the ring wall that the shaft will be
set. Crews will be on site in the next
two weeks to begin setting up
forms and preparing to start
pouring the shaft. Toward the
end of the year, crews will begin
to work on building the bowl.
The project remains on schedule
with work on the shaft and bowl
continuing throughout the
summer and into next year. The
tower is expected to be online in
the fall of 2016.

Well 20 Construction.
Construction of the well has been
underway for just over a month. They
continue to work on the open hole,
completing approximately 3 feet per
hour, with the finished depth of the
well at more than 500 feet. Nest, the
crew will set the casing and follow
with grouting the well. Drilling of the
well is progressing rapidly; drilling
equipment should be removed from
the park area by the end of summer.
Finalizing pumps, motors, and
controls will continue into the fall with the well expected to be online by the end of
the year and fully available in the summer of 2016.
Kensington Boulevard Improvement Project.
Preliminary work on the project has
started. Lane shifts went into effect
last week and reclamation began on
July 31. Kensington Boulevard will
remain open to traffic throughout the
project.
Miscellaneous Roadway Repairs.
This project encompasses a variety of
smaller projects to include catch
basin repair, curb, gutter, and
sidewalk replacement, asphalt
patching, and trail paving. Work to
replace the trails along 165th Street
east of Ipava Avenue and south of
165th Street along Ipava Avenue has
started with new trail pavement
being placed during the week of
August 3. Catch basin repairs have
been completed in a number of
locations along 183rd Street and along Glacier Way. Parking lot rehabilitation at City
Hall, Fire Station 1, the Heritage Center, and Fire Station 2 will begin in late August.

Commercial Meter Replacement.
As water meters reach the end of their service life,
they develop problems. Commonly, the meter just
stops providing accurate readings for the water
that passes through it. This situation occurred
recently with the meter that feeds Ardmore Village.
The City provides Ardmore Village with a 6-inch line
to the entrance of the community and they
distribute it to the residents. In troubleshooting the
problem, Utilities Division staff determined that the
water meter had stopped working correctly. Due to
the age of the meter, no parts were available to
make the repairs, so a new one was installed. This
particular meter is designed as a fire service meter
to measure the large volume
demands of a fire as well as domestic
water use. Installation of the meter
necessitated turning off the water to
Ardmore Village for several hours
while the old meter was removed and
the new meter installed by the
Utilities Division. Water service was
returned in the early afternoon.
