MEETING MINUTES
July 22, 2015
Chair Swan called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. in the Lake Marion Conference
Room at City Hall.
Members Present: Lori Bovitz, Judy Hayes, Scott Kelly, Jeanne Peterson, Bob Swan
Members Absent: Tom Goodwin, Howard Lovelace
Staff Present: Parks & Recreation Director Brett Altergott, Park Maintenance &
Operations Manager John Hennen, Environmental Resources Manager Mac Cafferty,
Recording Secretary Tamara Wallace
2. Approval of July 8 minutes
Minutes were approved as written.
3. Citizen comments
There were no citizen comments.
4. Staff report
Construction on Pioneer Plaza has begun, init ially delayed due to the high winds
and damage in last week’s storm. After working to clear up various debris and
trees throughout the City, the park maintenance crew has been working on
demolition at Pioneer Plaza which should wrap up by the end of this week.
Pan-O-Prog was a huge success with staff m embers from park maintenance, the
arts center, and recreation all working diligently towards the event.
The month of July is Parks & Recreation month, which the staff has worked hard to
highlight, offering lots of programs and events including the Pan-O-Prog run, Kamp
Kermit, Little Tykes Safety Camp, and the Puppet Wagon.
Coming up this weekend is the 2nd Annual Family Campout Adventure at
Casperson Park on Friday, July 24 at 7 p.m., as well as the 28th Annual Youth
Shore Fishing Contest at Casperson on July 25 at 9 a.m.
5. Other Business
Staff noted areas, streets, and parks the committee members knew of that still had
down trees and damage following the storm.

7. Park Tour of the Northeast Lakeville Parks
As the first part of “Identifying Destination Parks” as outlined in the 2015 PRNRC
Work Plan, the committee headed out to the parks in the Northeast portion of
Lakeville to gain a visual understanding of each parks amenities, equipment, and
maintenance needs. This tour also included preliminary discussions on how the
parks could be improved or enhanced, barriers to accessing the parks, or better
uses in the community and City. T he parks toured included: East Community,
Fieldstone, Independence, Dodd Pointe, Sleepy Hollow, Valley Lake, Fairfield,
Dodd Trail, and Greenridge.
