HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 03.f�1 Lr�kevtIle Memorandum To: Mayor and City Council From: Justin Miller, City Administrator Date: December 14, 2015 Subject: Department Presentation Schedules at City Council Meetings City of Lakeville Administration Historically various City departments and outside groups associated with the City of Lakeville have made presentations during City Council meetings at differing frequencies throughout the year. Over the past year, staff has noticed that many meetings were experiencing over 30 minutes worth of presentations, which delay the council getting to action items on the agenda. Staff has internally discussed changing the monthly department reports of the Police, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation Departments to be scheduled quarterly to match up with the Fire Department rotation. The Liquor Operations Director would continue to present twice a year, and the annual presentations of the DLBA, Community and Economic Development Department, and Lakeville Arenas would remain consistent with current practice. Additionally, staff would like to discuss reinstating the policy of introducing all new employees to the council on a quarterly basis (currently only Police and Fire employees are recognized). Staff has also added a quarterly Envision Lakeville presentation to the scheduled rotation. Attached to this report is a draft of what the new presentation rotation could look like. This can be amended and would be changed based on current events if necessary.
