With the shaft complete, the
contractor has been shifting
equipment in preparation for the
fabrication of the tank. Fabrication
of the tank will continue for the
next few months and should be
ready to hoist up the shaft in early
summer. The tower project
remains on schedule and is

of the additional things they do are developing mobile applications (apps) for the City’s
iPads to make daily staff tasks more efficient. Some of these apps facilitate inspections by
Environmental Resources and Parks & Recreation staff. In use this past summer, they
enabled field inspections and the creation of a database to track inspection status, results,
and corrective action. Additional functionality is being added for future use. Other apps
have been developed to help track sewer jetting and televising. In use by Utilities Division
staff, these apps not only track jetting and televising activities, but also allow notations of
pipe condition and mark pipe segments in need of service. They are also working with the
Streets Division to develop an app to maintain the citywide inventory of signs. The app
will allow them to add, delete, and update signs and their locations in a sign data base. As
all of this data is collected it can be presented on a map for staff to use managing assets.
