HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.oJanuary 4, 2016 Item No.________ LAKEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO SELL K9 OFFICER ZEUS Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the transfer of ownership of retired K9 Officer Zeus to Officer Jason Jensen. Passage of this motion will result in the Lakeville Police Department transferring ownership of the dog. Overview Officer Jason Jensen and K9 Zeus became partners in February 2010. K9 Officer Zeus recently retired from service and it has been our custom to allow the retired K9 Officer’s handler to become the new owner. Primary Issues to Consider • None Supporting Information • See attached Transfer of Title _________________________ Jeff Long Chief of Police Financial Impact: $__0__________Budgeted: Y/N ____ Source: __________________ Related Documents (CIP, ERP, etc.): _______________________________________ Community Values: _____________________________________________ 166799v1 1 TRANSFER OF TITLE THE CITY OF LAKEVILLE (“City"), a Minnesota municipal corporation, owner of the following described property: K9 Zeus having determined that the dog has no monetary value and is of no further utility to the City, the City does hereby convey ownership of the dog described above to Jason Jensen (“Recipient”) subject to the terms of this agreement, in an "AS-IS" condition and without warranties. Recipient agrees to properly and humanely feed, house and care for the dog. Recipient further agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City, its officers, employees, agents and insurers from any claims, losses, damages, reasonable attorney’s fees, costs or judgments resulting from the actions of the dog that occur after the date of this Transfer of Title. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this instrument to be executed this 4th day of January, 2016.
