HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.e 16 February, 2016 Item No.________ APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND SET A BID DATE 2016 MISCELLANEOUS ROADWAY REPAIRS AND OVERLAYS PROJECT CITY PROJECT 16-01 Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Resolution approving plans and specifications and setting a bid date for the 2016 Miscellaneous Roadway Repairs and Overlays project, City Project 16-01. Passage of this motion will result in the solicitation and receipt of bids for the 2016 Miscellaneous Roadway Repairs and Overlays project. Overview City Project 16-01 consists of miscellaneous roadway, draintile and sidewalk repairs. The following parks and recreation projects are also included: 165 th St. trail reclamation (south side from Hudson Avenue to Highview Avenue and the north side from Ipava Avenue to Holbrook Avenue); Dakota Heights Park trail reclamation; Greenway Trail reclamation; Casperson Park soccer field trail installation and paving at Greenridge Park between the existing basketball court and the existing playground area. The estimated cost of the 2016 Miscellaneous Roadway Repairs and Overlays project is $1,007,876. The 2016 Pavement Management Fund will provide $816,356; the Trail Improvement Fund will provide $191,520. A copy of the plans and specifications are on file and available for review in the Operations and Maintenance Division. Repairs such as patching, curb and sidewalk replacement and minor storm sewer repairs are designed to maintain the overall condition and maximize the service life of the road at the best overall cost. • What are the project costs and funding? Total Costs Construction $834,680 Contingency & Engineering $173,196 Total Cost $1,007,876 Funding Pavement Management Fund $816,356 Trail Improvement Fund $191,520 Total Funds $1,007,876 Pavement Repairs The miscellaneous roadway, draintile and sidewalk repairs are financed with property taxes accounted for in the Pavement Management Fund. Trails The trail projects are financed from the Trail Improvement Fund which is funded using property taxes. CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO._________ RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND SETTING A BID DATE 2016 MISCELLANEOUS ROADWAY REPAIRS AND OVERLAYS CITY PROJECT 16-01 WHEREAS, the Operations and Maintenance Division has prepared Plans and Specifications for 2016 Miscellaneous Roadway Repairs and Overlays (City Project 16-01) in accordance with the City’s Pavement Management Program and the 2016 - 2020 Capital Improvement Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota: That the Plans and Specifications for City Project 16-01 are hereby approved by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that bids will be advertised as required and opened at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at City Hall, 20195 Holyoke Avenue, Lakeville, Minnesota.
