HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.p Item No. APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND SET A BID DATE FOR CSAH 5 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT 172ND STREET AND KENYON AVENUE Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution approving plans and specifications and setting a bid date for County State Aid Highway 5 (Kenwood Trail) Intersection Improvements at 172nd Street and Kenyon Avenue project, City Project 13-07. Overview The City and County are partnering on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 5 (Kenwood Trail) intersection improvements at 172nd Street and Kenyon Avenue to improve safety and traffic operations and provide for increasing traffic levels. Improvements include the realignment of 172nd Street, the relocation of the CSAH 5/172nd Street intersection to align with the CSAH 5/Kenyon Avenue intersection, the reconstruction of the Kenyon Avenue east approach to CSAH 5, and the extension/reconnection of Kenyon Avenue west of CSAH 5 and south of 172nd Street. The estimated construction cost is $1,682,070. A copy of the plans and specifications are on file and available for review in the Engineering Division. Primary Issues to Consider • The adopted 2016-2020 Transportation Capital Improvement Plan programs a total project cost of $1,945,000. The County will be responsible for 55% of its respective share of the project costs. The City’s potential funding sources include, but are not limited to, the Storm Sewer Trunk Fund, Water Trunk Fund, Sanitary Sewer Trunk Fund, Tax Abatement Bonds, Southfork Interest Rate Reduction Loan proceeds, Tax Increment Fund and Municipal State Aid Street Fund. • Construction is anticipated to begin in July and be completed by November, 2016.
