APPROVAL OF THE INSTALLATION OF LAKEVILLE PAN-O-PROG AND LAKEVILLE
YELLOW RIBBON SIGNAGE ON CITY ENTRY SIGNS
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the installation of
Lakeville Pan-O-Prog and Lakeville Yellow Ribbon signage on Cily entry signs
Overview
The City maintains 20 entry signs along County and City roadways. Many communities allow
the display of civic organization signs at these locations.
In the past, some of Lakeville's civic organizations have expressed an interest in installing their
signage along with our entry signs. However, only recently has Dakota County provided some
flexibility with their ROW/Sign policy to make this possible. The County will now allow up to
four civic organization signs in conjunction with City entry signs along County roadways.
At its May 2nd meeting, the City Council approved the Lakeville Rotary Club and Lakeville Lions
Club to install their signage at seven key locations along County roadways (identified by City
staff). With the two remaining spaces allowed at these locations, Lakeville Pan-O-Prog and
Lakeville Yellow Ribbon have requested to install their organizations signage as well. The City
will install the signs for each organization and will regulate the sign size and type.
Primary Issues to Consider
• Does the City want to allow additional civic organization signs along roadways? When
regulated, this is a very common practice all over the State and provides an opportunity for
the civic organizations to inform residents and visitors that they have a presence in the
community. The City has already approved the Lakeville Rotary Club and Lakeville Lions
Club.
Supporting Information
• A map identifying proposed sign locations and letters from Lakeville Pan-O-Prog and
Lakeville Yellow Ribbon officially requesting their signage is placed at specific City entry
points.

Dear Chris:
On behalf of Pan -O -frog, we would like to request the placement of our Logo Signs on the Lakeville City
Population and Welcome signs at the seven possible locations noted on the map enclosed.
We understand and accept the cost of our Pan -O -frog signs. As a board, we agreed to purchase the
initial signs and have accepted responsibility of purchasing replacements as they become worn or
damaged.
We intend to comply with the City and County guidelines as to size, style and color before any
installation would happen. Pan-O-Prog appreciates the partnership we have with the City and thanks
you for your consideration. We feel it's a great way to market our community festival year round!

Greetings,
Lakeville Yellow Ribbon, a non-profit organization serving local military members and their
families, would like to request placement of signs with our logo at the designated locations on the
enclosed map.
Our organization, proclaimed an official Yellow Ribbon City by the Governor in 2010, has been
serving local veterans and their families since 2006. Our volunteers have donated countless hours
providing programs, events, and pathways to services for our veterans. We would find it beneficial
for the community to see signs acknowledging our commitment to Lakeville's military members
and families.
We understand that we will be responsible for paying for the purchase of the initial signs as well as
replacements of worn or damaged signs. We will comply with the City and County guidelines as to
size, style, and color.
Thank you for your consideration of including Lakeville Yellow Ribbon on the City's population and
welcome signs.
