HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.n Item No. SPIRIT OF BRANDTJEN FARM COMMERCIAL 1ST ADDITION AMENDMENT TO DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the Amendment to Development Contract – Spirit of Brandtjen Farm Commercial 1st Addition. Overview The City, County and SBF Development Corp. (SBF) partnered to complete County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 9 (Dodd Blvd.) intersection improvements at CSAH 31 (Pilot Knob Rd.) to allow for a public street connection on the east (162nd St.) that was constructed with Spirit of Brandtjen Farm Commercial 1st Addition improvements. SBF constructed a second left turn lane for eastbound CSAH 9 traffic at CSAH 31, a median through the CSAH 9/Elm Creek Lane intersection and a new traffic signal to maintain safety along the corridor and mitigate impacts created by the new access. The City and County will share in the cost of the second left turn lane for eastbound CSAH 9 traffic at CSAH 31 and the traffic signal. The County is responsible for the cost of the median through the CSAH 9/Elm Creek Lane intersection. The City and County previously entered into a Joint Powers Agreement that establishes City and County project responsibilities and cost participation. The Amended Development Contract outlines the City’s and County’s share and reimbursement for engineering and construction. Primary Issues to Consider • The adopted 2016-2020 Transportation Capital Improvement Plan programs a total of $410,000 for transportation safety improvements throughout the City. The City’s estimated share of this project cost is $190,000. The City’s proposed funding sources include the Pavement Management Fund and Escrow Fund.
