HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.m October 3, 2016 Item No.________ Resolution Calling a Public Hearing Relating to the Imposition of a Service Charge for Special Service District No. 1 Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution Calling a Public Hearing Relating to the Imposition of a Service Charge for Special Service District No. 1 Approval of the motion will result in a public hearing on November 7, 2016. Overview On July 6, 1998, the City Council approved Ordinance 631 establishing a Special Service District No. 1. The Special Service District Advisory Board has requested City Council consideration of levying a special service charge payable in 2017 and approval of the attached budget for the period of July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. The Special Service District Advisory Board is recommending that the service charge payable remain unchanged ($27,500) consistent with those of prior years. CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. ________ RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING RELATING TO THE IMPOSITION OF A SERVICE CHARGE FOR SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT NO. 1 WHEREAS, the Downtown Lakeville Business Association has submitted a proposed budget and requested the imposition of a service charge in the amount of $27,500 to be collected with taxes payable in 2017; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Statute requires that a public hearing must be conducted each calendar year with notices mailed to each business organization subject to the service charge. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Lakeville, Minnesota, that a public hearing will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 relating to the proposed budget for the Special Service District No. 1 and imposing a service charge thereon. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of October, 2016 by the City Council of the City of Lakeville.
