HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.e Date: Item No. AMENDMENT TO PERFORMANCE EVALUATION POLICY FOR MUNICIPAL LIQUOR OPERATIONS Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the amendment to the Performance Evaluation policy for Municipal Liquor Operations. Passage of this motion would streamline the performance evaluation process for the liquor department. Overview Currently the liquor department supervisors conduct a 90 day policy and procedures review, a 3- month, 6-month and a 12-month performance evaluation for part-time sales associates. Supervisors also conduct performance evaluations as part of the step process. Supervisors are conducting up to four performance evaluations for a part-time sales associate using the current performance evaluation system within the first 12 months of employment. Staff is proposing the performance evaluation system for part-time sales associates be streamlined: • 3-month evaluation: policy and procedure review • 6-month evaluation • Annual performance evaluation on the employee’s employment anniversary date. The need for a performance evaluation in conjunction with a step increase would be eliminated. Step increases would become automatic after working the required hours. Please note supervisors would conduct performance evaluations more frequently if an employee’s performance is not satisfactory. The Personnel Committee has reviewed the amendment to the policy and is recommending approval.
