HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.r Date: Item No. PURCHASE OF REPLACEMENT FIRE DEPARTMENT RADIOS Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Authorize purchase of replacement fire department radios from the State Cooperative Purchasing Contract Number 40071. Overview The 2016-2020 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) showed the replacement of fire department radios over a three-year period (2017-2019). The adopted 2017-2021 CIP reflects the entire purchase in 2017 to maximize trade-in proceeds and avoid planned cost increases. The cost savings of the trade-in value of the existing radios expires on December 15, 2016 and the State Cooperative Purchasing Contract (#40071) pricing expires on December 31, 2016. Vendors have stated that the pricing of radios and associated equipment will be increasing in 2017. Total cost of the purchase of sixty-two (62) portable radios and associated equipment from Motorola Solutions is as follows: Gross Purchase Price $258,485.62 Less: Trade-in ($500/radio) ($ 31,000.00) Net Cost $227,485.62 Anticipated delivery date is January, 2017. The 2017 proposed Equipment Fund budget includes the replacement cost for all of the radios with a trade-in value of $500/radio.
