RESOLUTION APPROVING MUNCIPAL STATE-AID STREET SYSTEM
DESIGNATIONS
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution approving
Municipal State-Aid Street System designations.
Overview
The Municipal State-Aid (MSA) Street program allows cities with populations of at least 5,000
to designate 20% of its local streets as MSA routes. MSA routes are used to complete the City’s
yearly Needs Study, which is part of the formula used to calculate MSA allocations. The City
currently has 1.66 miles available to designate as MSA streets. The streets listed below meet the
MSA Street program criteria and are eligible for designation as a MSA street. The MSA Street
System revisions listed below will be used to calculate the City’s 2018 MSA allotment and
leaves 0.05 miles left for future designation.
208th Street – Jacquard Avenue to Dodd Boulevard (CSAH 9)
175th Street – Glacier Way to Flagstaff Avenue
Primary Issues to Consider
MSA funds are used toward the construction, improvement or maintenance of the City’s
MSA Street System to established standards.
