RESOLUTION ACEEPTING DONATIONS FROM CUSTOMERS OF
LAKEVILLE MUNICIPAL LIQUOR STORES
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Motion to approve resolution accepting
donations valued at $17,591.14 on behalf of Lakeville Municipal Liquor customers to the
Lakeville Fire Department for the purchase of water rescue equipment.
Overview
The Lakeville Municipal Liquor Stores hosted a “Fire it Up for Public Safety” fundraiser the
entire month of July 2017. It was kicked off with a brat fry and firemen carryout event on
Sunday, July 2, and followed by a customer round up and donation acceptance the remainder
of the month. The funds raised will be used to purchase water rescue equipment.
Some grants and donations may require the City to incur additional expenditures in order to
comply with grant agreements and restricted donations; therefore, staff is seeking authority to
amend the budget, as appropriate.
Primary Issues to Consider
Lakeville Liquors hosts up to four donation roundups annually in conjunction with the
Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association, providing just another avenue in which municipal
liquor operations continue to provide back to the communities they serve.
