HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.l Date: Item No. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM MINNESOTA ENERGY Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Approve resolution to accept $1540.00 grant to the Lakeville Fire Department (LFD) from Minnesota Energy. Passage of this motion will provide funds to be used towards the purchase of Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Overview The Lakeville Fire Department Staff applied for a grant through Minnesota Energy Safety Grant Program. This grant will provide Lakeville Fire Department the opportunity to purchase Carbon Monoxide Detectors that are carried on medical bags to alert firefighters if they are in a dangerous atmosphere. Some grants and donations may require the City to incur additional expenditures in order to comply with grant agreements and restricted donations; therefore, staff is seeking authority to amend the budget, as appropriate. Primary Issues to Consider • Acknowledgement of grant acceptance. • Chief Meyer will draft a “Thank You” letter following Council’s approval of this resolution. Supporting Information Financial Impact: $ Budgeted: Y☐ N☒ Source: Related Documents: (CIP, ERP, etc.): Envision Lakeville Community Values: Safety Throughout the Community Report Completed by: Mike Meyer, Fire Chief September 5, 2017 +1540 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO._________ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION FROM MINNESOTA ENERGY WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville supports the grant application process of Minnesota Energy and is being awarded $1540.00 for the purchase Carbon Monoxide Detectors and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property be accepted only with the adoption of a resolution of the governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the grant award of $1540.00 from Minnesota Energy is hereby officially accepted and that the City of Lakeville sincerely thanks Minnesota Energy for the grant award; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City staff is authorized to amend the budget to comply with grant agreements and restrictive donations.
