Johnson City of Lakeville 20195 Holyoke Avenue Lakeville MN 55044 RE: Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) Application for Dodd Boulevard and Flagstaff Avenue Improvements Dear Mr. Johnson: Dakota County is writing to express support for the City of Lakeville application for Local Road Improvement Program funding for the proposed intersection improvements of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 9 (Dodd Boulevard) and Flagstaff Avenue in the City of Lakeville. The intersection of Dodd Boulevard and Flagstaff Avenue is a skewed all way stop control intersection. During the peak hours, all movements of the intersection are failing. The City of Lakeville and Dakota County are partnering to construct a single-lane roundabout at the intersection to improve intersection operations, make safety improvements, and provide for increasing traffic levels. Dakota County understands the project is a joint effort between the City of Lakeville and Dakota County and that the Lakeville City Council is committed to fund and construct the project in cooperation with the Dakota County. Dakota County supports this proposed project for funding and agrees to provide a financial commitment for the improvements, consistent with the policies included in the current adopted Dakota County Transportation Plan. Thank you for making us aware of this application effort and the opportunity to provide support. Physical Development Division Steven C.
