HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.e November 20, 2017 Item No. RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DONATION FROM THE LAKEVILLE LIONS CLUB TO FUND THE LAKEVILLE LOOP SENIOR CIRCULATOR BUS SERVICE Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution to accept donation from the Lakeville Lions Club to fund the Lakeville LOOP senior circulator bus. Overview The Lakeville LOOP began on November 9 and runs on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. LOOP stops include the Fountains at Hosanna!, Kingsley Shores, Cub Foods, Dollar Tree, Target, Fairfield Terrace, Main Street Manor, Winsor Plaza, Highview Hills, Lakeville Heritage Center and the Dakota County Heritage Library. Rides are available to seniors age 62 and older, people with a disability and individuals who qualify based on income. Cost of the service is $3 per day, but no riders will be turned away for inability to pay. The cost of running the Lakeville LOOP senior circulator bus service during its first year of operation is approximately $25,000. A donation of $4,000 was received from the Lakeville Lions Club for the Lakeville LOOP, which completes year one’s fundraising goal. Supporting Information • Copy of the proposed resolution Financial Impact: $ 4,000 Budgeted: Y☐ N☒ Source: Related Documents: (CIP, ERP, etc.): Envision Lakeville Community Values: A Home for All Ages and Stages of Life Report Completed by: Kati Bachmayer, Economic Development Specialist Donations CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. ____ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM LAKEVILLE LIONS CLUB FOR THE LAKEVILLE LOOP SENIOR CIRCULATOR BUS SERVICE WHEREAS, Lakeville Lions Club made a donation to the City of Lakeville; and WHEREAS, the donation will be used to fund the Lakeville LOOP senior circulator bus service; and WHEREAS, the organization has offered to transfer full rights of ownership of the donations to the City of Lakeville with no conditions or reservations; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property be accepted only with the adoption of a resolution of the governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota that the donation by the Lakeville Lions Club is hereby accepted; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lakeville sincerely thanks this organization for its generous donation to the Lakeville LOOP senior circulator bus service.
