HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.h Date: Item No. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM CUSTOMERS OF THE LAKEVILLE MUNICIPAL LIQUOR STORES Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution accepting donation on behalf of Lakeville Municipal Liquor customers to the Lakeville Police Department Canine Unit. Overview Lakeville Liquors periodically conducts fundraisers. All funds raised through these fundraisers must be used for public programs, services or property. The Liquor Department conducted a Kash for K-9’s fundraiser in October, raising $16,410.28 for the Lakeville Police Department. These funds will be utilized for the training, equipment and expenses incurred by the canine service officers. Primary Issues to Consider • Fundraisers to be completed are recommended by the Liquor Department and are approved by the Liquor Committee. Fundraisers may not be used to support private individuals, sports teams or organizations. They must be utilized only for public programs, property or services. Supporting Information Financial Impact: $16,410.28 Budgeted: Y☐ N☒ Source: Related Documents: (CIP, ERP, etc.): Envision Lakeville Community Values: A Sense of Community and Belonging Report Completed by: Brenda Visnovec, Liquor Operations Director November 20, 2017 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. ____ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION TO THE LAKEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT CANINE OFFICER UNIT WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 456.03 requires all gifts and donations of real or personnel property be accepted only with adoption of a resolution of the governing body; and WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville’s Municipal Liquor Stores have received donations of money in the amount of $16,410.28 for the Lakeville Police Department Canine Officer Unit; and WHEREAS, the additional revenues received may require the City to incur additional expenditures to comply with grant agreements and restricted donations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the donation of $16,410.28 is hereby accepted and acknowledged with gratitude to the donors; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City staff is authorized to amend the budget to comply with grant agreements and restrictive donations APPROVED by the Lakeville City Council this 20th day of November 2017 CITY OF LAKEVILLE ______________________________ Douglas P.
