Overview 198th Street and Iris Way are local public roadways located within the Kyla Crossing subdivision. Residents within the subdivision request that the City establish no parking zones along one side of each roadway. The request is in response to overflow on-street parking from Lakeville Ames Arena and Lakeville North High School patrons. Parking along both sides of the roadways creates public safety challenges, including property accessibility for first responders (police, fire and ambulance) and roadway maintenance, particularly in the winter (snow storage). In addition, property owners expressed concerns regarding driveway accessibility and the loss of on-street parking for guests. Lakeville Arenas and Lakeville Area Public Schools are currently evaluating options for expanding on-site parking facilities. Primary Issues to Consider • What is the impact of the no parking restriction on residents? Kyla Crossing property owners provided input expressing support for the no parking zones. One resident (out of thirty-nine) expressed concern and discussed with Staff regarding the potential that the no parking zones could create a challenge for their guests in the event of a party/gathering.
